•   Turbidity & Sediment

Turbidity is a measure of suspended particles in water (measured in NTU’s). The water generally appears cloudy and can range from large visible particles (silt, sand) that can settle out of the water quickly to more complex fine particles in solution (clay) that can take several hours to settle out of suspension. Treatment methods are based on particle size and complexity of suspension. Turbidity in water can be a health concern because water with sediment or cloudy water can harbour bacteria.   Signs of Turbidity & Sediment · Small to large particles visible in sinks, toilets, bathtubs. · Cloudy or discoloured water. · Plugged screens on taps, showerheads, washing machine hoses. · Unpleasant tastes and odours.

Health Effects   Turbid, cloudy or water with sediment may have unidentified particles, bacteria and heavy metals that can be harmful to your health.

Solutions   The most common treatment for water with turbidity and sediment are using a mechanical Cartridge filter or multi-media Backwash System.
